back38. Rothbury Red Leicester

038_red_leicester_roth.jpg

Yes! This Red Leicester is a beautful cheese and so far my favorite new cheese I discovered this year. Not too sharp. Perfect bite. Lingering flavors of delicious cheese. Port wine flavors. "Addictive and distinctive" says Fleming. "Not a phony cheddar, it tastes like what cheese should taste like--really great cheese!" I agree.
Seek this cheese out this holiday season. You will be hooked.

COMMENTS

B!:

OMG! Red Leicester is my absolute FAVE breakfast cheese! When we were in England, our hotel had little packages of this and double gloucester. I would take them with me, and have yummy snacks all day as we went sight seeing!

I adore cheddars in general, but the true bright sour taste of the RL just made me happy! I miss it...It's hard to find in LA, even at Whole Foods and Trader Joe's, but I suppose I could special order it if the yearning gets too great... or I run out of California cheeses to try!
